Which popular NI supermakets offers the best value for money (2025)

High prices in the shops continue to have a huge impact on households across Northern Ireland with some products nearly doubling in price over the past few years.

With the recent changes to the National Insurance, which will see employers have to make larger contributions, there have been fears that prices could rise as companies seek to recoup the costs of the increase.

Knowing that this was going to take place from April 1, many shops and supermarkets had factored in this increase to their prices in the months prior and many people may have noticed some products, such as chocolate, suddenly costing a lot more.

Belfast Live looked at the price of some everyday essentials in Sainsbury's, Tesco and Asda to see how they compare today, with two of the supermarkets having lower prices than they did just two months ago in February.
